Born and raised in England, James was always involved in playing various sports while growing up. He eventually decided to turn all of his energy towards his passion, golf.
With a handicap of +2 and amateur status, James went on to train at IMG Sports Academy in Bradenton, FL. Training with both The David Leadbetter Golf Academy and The International Performance Institute (IPI) to improve his game and turn pro in 2003. James went on to play numerous mini tours.
In 2008, James decided to make Florida his permanent home. He wanted to bring his passion for golf and fitness together, and found that Sarasota was the perfect home for this. His objective is to train athletes on how to perform better, with a heavy focus on the golf industry. The opportunity arose for James to set up the entire fitness division at the prestigious Concession Golf Club located in Sarasota.
During this same time, James was also one of the head trainers of The Braden River Soccer Club. James was responsible for working with youth ages 8-18 years of age on youth development, speed and agility, and the tactical aspects of the sport.
Currently, James is the owner and director of Whatmore Performance Training, WPT, based in Bradenton, FL. His cliental varies from a wide range of athletes including juniors, beginners, professionals, and everything in between. His unique training program focuses on enhancing athletic performance while building on the core foundational elements to build long term athletic development.
James has been featured on the radio, a number of golf magazines, and has appeared on TV interviews with ABC news for his unique ability to train an athlete at any level
